‘Fouracre defies the propelling chaos and succeeds at Phillip Island’

Jake Fouracre has stood strong in his Lucky 7 Mygale SJ06A this weekend at Phillip Island, after fending off a stunning incident and setup issues on Saturday to achieve yet another top ten result in his opening season in Formula Ford.

Friday practice saw Jake experience his first event working and running the Lucky 7 machine with Minda Motorsport, the team responsible for the CAMS Rising Stars. This expertise and knowledge allowed Fouracre to test various setups across the day to find the right lines for success.

“We were relatively happy with the car at the end of Friday practice, but from Saturday onwards i really struggled with the balance of the car and we worked hard to try and improve it,” said Jake. Unfortunately for Fouracre, quick tyre degradation saw his slight demise in Race 1, after a stellar start seeing him propel from 9th to 4th in 3 laps, however due to the tyres, it saw Jake drop to 7th in by the end.

While Race 2 was very much a textbook run, seeing Jake complete the event in 7th, race 3 brought carnage on lap 1, effectively making him and his car a passenger to the action entering the southern loop. Whilst entering the fast corner, under braking, Jake soon saw the Sonic Racing entry of Josh Hunter thrust himself over the top, after making heavy contact with Jake, causing rear end car damage. Fouracre stated after the race, “the car was a handful to drive after that and I was lucky to finish because of the cut tyres and cracked rim, but i got 5th in the end so was pretty happy with the result.”

Despite the somewhat unexpected chaos, it was yet again another successful weekend for the team, “overall it was an up and down weekend but it was really great being with Minda Motorsport now for all their help and support,” said Jake.

Next Event: Round 2 of the Victorian State Circuit Racing Series will be held at Sandown International Raceway on May 14 and 15!
